Door Features

Beyond the construction of the wooden components themselves, these details bring the entryway together and allow it to function smoothly and as intended.

Weatherstripping

Silicon kerf-in weatherstripping is used around the perimeter of the slab to seal the elements out. Requiring less compression than Q-Lon type weatherstripping, this silicon flap seal will always return to its original shape, as it has little to no “memory”. Available in black, brown, or white.

Interlocking Thresholds

We prevent the passage of wind or water at the bottom of our slabs using interlocking components paired with an adjustable silicon flap seal. A "J-hook" is nailed into the bottom of the slab, which grabs onto a bronze saddle, as the door closes. The adjustable silicon flap seal sits next to the J-Hook for a second layer of seal.

Hinges

Ball bearing hinges come standard with all doors, sized to match the weight of the door slab. They are available in 30 different finishes, as well as various finial options.

True Divided Lights

Individual glass units are divided by muntins, versus "simulated divided lights". Each tempered insulated glass unit is dropped onto a silicone bead in its frame. Window glazing stock is made from the same profile that the exterior features, and is pin-nailed into place.
